The place was set up all nice and pretty. It had been decided by Prince Ben to have a dance of sorts. The theory was that if people could mingle not knowing who they were, then perhaps the process of everyone getting to know each other and not just doing the dividing of AK and VK up. It was an unfortunate thing he of course planned to clear up. Granted, things hadn't totally boiled over yet but he was going to head things off at the pass. Sooner everyone just calmed down and got along the sooner things could go like Ben planned.

Of course, Ben was not the only one planning something. CK had worked a little magic of their own. There was a special enchantment put on every mask that would be sent out. It had a unique spell added to them. The spell was one of True Name concealment. Everyone would look similar to everyone. Any attempts to say who they are would be either tuned out to unhearable degrees or if written would be too blurry to read. For the evening, until 6am, neither the masks would be able to be taken off nor would anyone be able to deduce the identity of the person. A true masquerade indeed.

The place was all lit up in Auradon colors, blue and gold. There were a variety of items to eat and drink. Of course, all the masks had been sent out early. The rule was that nobody was allowed to enter without their masks. No fun if someone tried to cheat the system after all. Now it was a simple matter of the various guests going to come in and go from there. Of course, the good news was that there would be anonymity alright. Just more than Ben would have expected.

Seth was here but he was not happy about it. He had figured a masquerade would be a good chance to fix one small annoyance. He was still more than a little miffed about a stupid rumor mill and it pointing him to any sort of association with that weak little idiotic fairy. It really agitated him. Way he saw it if the rumor mill was going to mess with him, it could go for anyone else. Which is why he had come to this. He had figured he could use his power to sniff out those with darkness in their hearts.

Oh how wrong he was.

Entering with the mask on, his sense ability had been all over the map. It was like something was interfering with his power. Surely not.... Seth tried to remove the mask, but it wouldn't budge. "That clever little son of a bitch." He muttered. Of course, he was under the impression this was part of Ben's doing. It would fit his MO. How else to show his point that had been hammered since they had been invited? He had to admit, he would never have put it to Ben to be clever like this. Of course it was really CK but Seth was under the impression of it being Ben.

Okay then, this called for a change of plan. Going over to the tray, he grabbed a cookie. "I wonder...." He remarked, then tried to say his name. Instead it came out as something he couldn't even hear. To say the least, this was mildly interesting. However, it also posed a problem. Now he had no way of knowing who was who, and that bothered him. He could try shapeshifting, but that was a technique of last resort and from the way this spell seemed to work, it would not be undone. Perhaps it was time based? Area based? It was a tough call for sure.
